Motorola is gearing up for the release of the Android 3.1 software update for the Motorola XOOM devices in Europe and has just confirmed the move in a post on their support forums.
The company also announced that the new software update should become available for download over the air in early August and that it will also be made available for manual download by August 9th.
“Android 3.1 for Motorola XOOM will soon be available over the air to all Motorola XOOM users in Europe” the handset vendor announced.
“We expect the over-the-air deployment to begin in early August with the package being available for pull by August 9th.”
Previously the company announced the availability of this software update for various markets around the world such as Asia or Australia.
The software update was pushed to the owners of Motorola XOOM devices in the United States a few months ago and it seems that it should not be too long before all XOOM owners enjoy the OS upgrade.
Android 3.1 will arrive on XOOM devices with a wide range of enhancements some of the most appealing ones being related to the user interface along with an updated set of applications.
Following the update users should enjoy better multi-tasking capabilities on their devices as well as the possibility to resize the widgets on the home screen.
The new software update will also come with USB connectivity for accessories and should activate the microSD memory card slot that XOOM was pushed to the market with. In some markets the microSD unlock will arrive only with Android 3.2.
